The Client was a close friend, whom we offered a summer house in the countryside. Not that much of usual expectations, just an ordinary villa with a high level of security. The land was facing the south east, sunny with an extremely stunning vista from which we took the initial idea of two simple match boxes framing such delightful landscape. They would rather to through their parties and family events in an open area over the upper box, so we allocated this first volume to the public behavior of the residents by organizing Living room, kitchen and a spacious yard -which in fact was the outdoor extension for the mentioned activities. Next, the bedrooms and the connected service spaces located in the lower box to acquire the desired privacy and coziness. The main access is the stairway starting from the lowest level (street level) ending to the building’s main entrance in the upper box (public volume) with an additional shortcut to the private zone (private volume). Anticipating severe winters of the site, steep skin was installed over the final roof. The wooden sheets were added to the balcony edge in order to guard the house against cold weather while enhancing the security level of the house.
